Colloidal Silver: Facts and Fiction (Part 2)

Colloidal silver solution was originally patented in 1924 and even today most colloidal silver solutions are still made to that patent; though the manufacturing technology has improved significantly since then (see Part 1).

Keith Moellar is a world leading authority on colloidal silver solution, having been responsible for obtaining a new patent for an advanced silver solution in 2006. The significance of this is that in order to obtain a patent it is necessary to demonstrate a new product or technology and the US Patent Office requires hard evidence to support any claims made by the new patent. This means that the Patent Office provides independent validation of any claims made and it is not just company marketing.

Keith can therefore speak with authority when he says that many companies promoting colloidal silver are in fact using old data. Referring to internet advertising Keith says, “it says silver can kill 620 pathogens. That’s a great statement. But the real question is, at what level, over what period of time and using what type of solution since there’s hundreds of different types of solution? Silver can do it yeah, but unless you have the knowledge behind it of how to utilise it, it’s useless”

He continues that many manufacturers will say that, “silver can do this, silver can do that. They will never say MY silver product can do this. The reason why is because they have no data on it. They don’t know that their product will do something”.

A colloidal silver solution manufactured to the 1924 patent does not require testing as that patent has expired.

However, as Keith has obtained a new patent, he is able to refer to safety studies by NAMSA (Toxicity Tests), Brigham Young University (Probiotic Bacteria Study) and Viridis BioPharma (Probiotic Bacteria Study). He says of his advanced silver solution, “We have done a great deal of work .. .. . the first one we tested at 200 times the normal adult dosage. That is equivalent to me sitting down and taking 32 ounces at one sitting. At that level it was deemed completely non toxic to the test animals”.

In the current climate of an ever increasing number of people becoming disillusioned with modern antibiotics due to side effects and increasing resistance from pathogens, there is a lot of money to be made from colloidal silver. However, with much misleading advertising with some manufacturers using old data, or worse still, other people’s data that does not apply to their product; caution is to be advised. I have read many times on the internet people complaining that they have used colloidal silver and it did not work, whilst others rant about its effectiveness.

Although Keith’s patented brand is more advanced than other silver solutions, it is not the only one that is effective. Buyers should always look for a manufacturer who says what their specific brand can do and is prepared to quote when and where it was tested. Colloidal silver solution can be immensely beneficial, but it needs to be correctly prepared and manufactured and the buyer should do their homework.
